Death Record
James's death record states that he was the widower of Elizabeth Thomson, however, this is likely an error and represents his daughter (Elizabeth Pearson née Thomson) with whom who he was residing at the time of his death. The record also states that he was in his 80th year, and he was the son of Alexander Thomson (ploughman) and Euphemia née Laverock. The primary cause of his death was senile decay. His death was witnessed by Andrew Pearson, his son-in-law.
