Biography

Ida was born 27 Jan 1835, probably in Paris, France. She was the daughter of Herman Thorn and Jane Jauncey.

She arrived at the port of New York aboard the ship Zurich on 9 Sep 1845.[1][2] The traveling party included Col Thorn age 60, Mrs. Thorn age 45, Mr. Alfred Thorn age 18, Mr. Eugene Thorn age 16, Ellen Thorn age 9, Ida Thorn age 7, Mr. La Conte de Ferussac age 25, Madame La Conte de Ferussac age 20, Mrs. Jauncey age 30, Miss Jane Jauncey age 10, William Jauncey age 8, James Jauncey age 7, and servants Mrs. Page, Miss O'Conner, Miss Stenner, Mr. Laurens, John Lusan, Edward Hinchman, Jane Hinchman, Joe Hinchman, and John Hinchman.

In 1850 she was living in New York City, ward 18, New York, New York, United States.[3] The household included Herman Thorn age 69 born in New York, Jane M Thorn age 50 born in New York, Eugene Thorn age 17 born in France, Ellen Thorn age 14 born in France, Ida Thorn age 11 born in France, Patrick Cavanaugh age 35 born in Ireland, Wm Hines age 35 born in Ireland, Ina Frances age 20 born in France, Ann King age 35 born in Ireland, Mary McCormick age 28 born in Ireland, Maria Sullivan age 29 born in New York Bridget Timmen age 30 born in Ireland, Ellen Cassida age 18 born in Ireland, Sarah Cavanaugh age 26 born in Ireland, Cath Cavanaugh age 5 born in Ireland, Henry Cavanaugh age 2 born in New York and Peter Cavanaugh age 5 months born in New York. Herman Thorn of the City, County, and State of New York signed his will on 7 Dec 1855 and named his daughter Ida Thorn.[5]

Ida Thorn and Samuel Mickle Fox were married by Rev. Dr. Pratt on 10 Jun 1857 in New York City.[6]

The will of Herman Thorn was proved 26 Sep 1859 in New York Surrogate Court.[7][8] Named heirs and next of kin included Ida Fox wife of Samuel M Fox residing in the City of New York.

Samuel Mickle Fox b. 4 Aug 1828 d. 3 May 1893. The son of Dr. Samuel M. Fox and Eliza de Pau. Married first 1852 his first cousin Mary Adele Livingston. Married second Ida Thorn. Married third his deceased wife niece and his first cousin Amelia de Pau, daughter of Lewis Augustus de Pau and Angeline Thorn.
