William Thorne was born in Wales.

William was born in Zion's Hill, Spittal, Pembrokeshire, Wales in 1834. He was the son of William Thorne and Mary Evans.

He was christened 8th February 1835 in Penbont and Zions Hill Independent Hayscastle and Spittal, Pembroke, Wales^[1]

He was living with his parents and siblings in Spittal, Pembrokeshire, Wales in 1841^[2]

He married Ann Phillips in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales in 1860^[4]
