Biography

According to Foster (1874), Stephen Thornton of Askrigg married Cecily, daughter of John Metcalfe of Holme.

Harl MS 1550 shows an alternate construction of Cecily's parentage that would make her not only Stephen's wife ... but also his aunt, assuming that Foster's (1874), placement of Elizabeth as the daughter of Reginald is correct.

Foster (1874), does not list Stephen's children, but they are given in Harl MS 1550 which states they had three sons:
