Master builder George Thornton was born at Kilham in Yorkshire about 1835. He married Susannah Berriman, daughter of Peter Berriman and his wife, Margaret Robinson. He lived in Middle Street and in 1871 had his father-in-law, and a nephew, Michael Thornton, living in his home. [1]
