A J Thornton of Dyer died Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at his home here after several week's illnes.
Mr Thornton had been in the livestock business for many years. He hheaded the firm of Turner & Thornton.
He was vice-president of the Farmers & Merchants Bank, a large landowner and farmed extensively. He was active in the style and political life of Dyer. Surviving are 3 sons, Vance Thornton of Trenton, Ransom Thornton of the Armym and John Thornton of Dyer; 4 daughters, Mrs Joe A Gordon of Kenton, Mrs John Galelia, Jr. of Memphis, Mrs A M Davidson of Chicago and Mrs Ernest Fonville of Dyer.
