WAS THE FATHER OF FOURTEEN CHILDREN

After eating a hearty breakfast Monday morning and returning from a walk of some distance, Moses Thornton, of Underwood, Washington, died in his chair as he sat reading. Mr. Thornton was 78 years old and appeared to be enjoying excellent health. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday by Rev. Dix of the Advent Church. Moses Thornton was born in Shelby County, Illinois, in 1827, was the father of fourteen children, ten of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Wise of Chenowith, Washington, Mrs. L.M. Baldwin of Sebatha, Kansas, Mrs. Matilda Hale of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Mamie Tabell of Springfield, Missouri, Michael, Edgar, Charles and Frank Thornton, all of Underwood, Washington, and Jacob Thornton of Hood River, Oregon. Mr. Thornton moved to Kansas in 1869, to Missouri in 1890, and to Underwood, Washington, in 1892, where he resided until his death. Information from the Hood River Glacier newspaper.
