Charles Thorpe aka Thorp was born in about 1841 in Schoharie County, New York, United States to William Thorpe and Mary.
In 1850 Charles Thorp (age 9) lived in Esperance, Schoharie County with his father William (42, Farmer), mother Mary (36), and three siblings: John (6), Catharine (5), and Henry (3).[1]
In 1855 Charles Thorp (age 13) lived in the Town of Schoharie, Schoharie County with his father William (47, Farmer), mother Mary (36), and three siblings: John (11), Catharine (10), and Henry (8).[2]
In 1860 Charles Thorp (age 18) lived in Schoharie with his father William (52), mother Mary (46), and four siblings: George (16), Catharine (15), Henry (13), and Edward P (1).[3]
In 1865 Charles Thorp (age 23) lived in Schoharie with his father William (57, Farmer), mother Mary (51), and three siblings: Henry (15), Catharine (20), and Edward (6).[4]
According to the 1900 census, Mary was the mother of 8 children, 5 of whom were still living at that time, so they most likely had 3 other children who died young.
In 1870 Chas Thorp (age 29, Day Laborer) lived in Shelby, Orleans County, New York with his wife Mary (24) and daughter Mary J (2).[5]
In 1875 Charles Thorpe (age 33, Farmer) lived in Shelby with his father William (68, Farmer), wife Mary Ann (29), and three daughters: Mary Jane (6), Olive (5), and Frances (2).[6]
In 1880 Charles Thorpe (age 38, Farmer) lived in Shelby with his wife Mary (32) and five daughters: Jennie (12), Olive (10), Francis (6), Nellie (4), and Fayette (2).[7]
In 1892 Chas Thorp (age 52) lived in Batavia Township, Genesee County, New York.[8] Also in the household were his wife Mary (45) and four daughters: Olive (21), Frances (19), Nellie M (17), and Fay (14).
In 1900 Charles Thorp (age 60, Farmer) lived in Batavia Township with his wife Mary A (64 [~54]) - according to this census, Charles was born in Sept, Charles & Mary had been married 32 years, and Mary was the mother of 8 children, 5 of whom were still living.[9]
In 1905 Charles Thorp (age 65) lived in Batavia Township with his wife Mary (60).[10]
In 1910 Charles Thorp (age 69, Farmer) lived in Batavia Township with his wife Mary A (63) - according to this census, Charles & Mary had been married 43 years, and Mary was the mother of 5, all of whom were still living.[11]
Charles Thorp passed away on 10 Mar 1915 in Batavia.[12]
