Biography
James Thorpe Jr died young.
James Francis Thorpe, Jr. was born on May 8, 1915 in Yale, Payne, Oklahoma to James Francis "Jim" and Iva Margaret (Miller) Thorpe. Jim Thorpe Jr. was Jim Thorpe Sr's first born child, and his first born son. Jim Sr. was very proud of his new baby boy, but was devastated when his son contracted polio. Tragically, he died at the young age of 3 and was buried in Oklahoma. He ultimately would share a grave site with his mother in Harrell Cemetery in Cushing, Oklahoma in Payne County.
