Disputed Parents

There is disagreement regarding who Hannah's parents were. Most secondary sources claim they are William Throckmorton and Cecilia Baynham. However, William (born in 1579) cannot be the father of Hannah (born in 1570). And Cecilia, who was born in 1586, also cannot be Hannah's mother. These parents have been disconnected from this profile.

Many other sources claim her parents were Thomas Throckmorton (born about 1538) and Elizabeth Berkeley (born 1532). (See sources S3, S4.) These have been connected to this profile as Hannah's parents.

Disputed Son

It has long been claimed that Hannah Throckmorton (Throckmartin) was the mother of Capt. John Johnson of Roxbury, Puritan Great Migrationist and that he was born 1588 in Langton, Lincolnshire. See Johnson's profile for a more detailed review of his origins.

But an excellent study published in 2000 debunks this:

The birth date of 1588, Langton, Lincolnshire, England submitted by a Mr. Richard Miner to the [IGI] Ancestral Files, is not listed in any of the Lincolnshire parish records of births. In regard to the submitted material, a private letter dated April 5, 1999 to the author, Richard Miner of Springville, Utah indicated that he had inherited the research of his mother and that of the Aaron Johnson Family Organization. Believing that the information researched by his mother was correct, Mr. Miner submitted the information to the Ancestral Files of the Family History Center of the LDS Church.[6]

Since I received no responses to private messages and comments, I have changed Hannah's parents from William/Cecelia to Thomas/Elizabeth.

Hannah is the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth, not William and Cecilia. In fact, William is Hannah's brother. (See "disputed parents".) William was born after Hannah.
