Clement Throckmorton was born by 1515.[1]
Clement was the third son of Sir George Throckmorton of Coughton, Warwickshire, England,[2] and his wife, Katherina the daughter of Nici Vaux Lord Vaux of Harwedon.[3] George later married Anne, the daughter of Richard Knightly of Upton in Northamptonshire, who when widowed married Thomas Porter of Etyndon [Ettington] in Warwickshire, and then Will Cecill.[4] Anne died on 12 June 7 Elizabeth seized of the 4th part of the manor of Southam, Warwickshire, leaving Fulke Porter, her son and heir, aged 15 yrs of age.[4]
Clement was a cousin of Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of King Henry VIII of England.[1]
Clement had siblings:
Clement married by 1545, Katherine, the daughter of Sir Edward Neville.[1]
With Katherine, Clement had six sons and 7 daughters:[1]
Clement was a member of parliament, representing Warwick in 1542, 1547, March and October 1553; Devizes in 1545; Sudbury in 1559; Warwickshire in 1563 and 1572; and West Looe in 1571.[1]
Clement Throckmorton died on 14 December 1573[6][7] and was buried in a tomb in Haseley church, Warwickshire.[1] At his death Clement Throgmorton of Haseley, Esq, was seized of a 5th part of the manor of Southam, Warwickshire, and Job, his son and heir, was 28 years of age.[4]
From the Haseley Parish Registers:
Inscription on the Tomb of
Clement Throckmorton Esqr.
situate in the South Window of the Chancel in Haseley Church
Here lieth the body of Clement Throckmorton Esquire
the third sone of Sr. George Throckmorton Knight and Katharine
Nevill his wife, the first and eldest Daughter of Edward Nevill
Knight; of whom he begat six sons and seven daughters.
He departed this world, the Sunday being the 15 of December
in the year of our Lord God 1573 and in the sixteenth yeare
of the reigned of our most gracious and soveraine lady
Queen Elizabeth.
The parish registers for Haseley have a transcription of the text of the memorial brass for Clement Throckmorton and Katharine Nevill, which gives his death as 15 December 1573, whilst the drawing by Wenceslaus Hollar appears to show the 14 December. Hollar is probably the accurate one. I've done a quick search for photographs online, but all the ones I can find have clipped the bottom part of the description from the image, so until a photographic image is provided, we can't say with absolute certainty which is correct.
