Biography

Anthony Throckmorton was the 8th son of Sir George Throckmorton of Coughton, Warwickshire, by his wife Katherine daughter of Nicholas Vaux. Anthony Throckmorton was a mercer of London and an investor in country properties. Anthony Throckmorton in his later years suffered for his faith. In 1581, for example, Anthony Throckmorton posted bond for his release from prison, at his house in Canning Street, City of London.

Anthony Throckmorton styled himself as "of Chastleton", Oxfordshire, in the 1560s.

By his marriage with Catherine (Willington) Catesby, Anthony Throckmorton had five sons and 1 daughter. Anthony Throckmorton in 1553 was appointed Keeper of Hasely Park. Warwickshire.
