Biography

Alexander was born in 1828. He was the son of James Throop and Calcina Nichols. He passed away in 1904. [1]

The 1850 census shows Alexander Storer Throop, age 21, as a grocer in West Fallowfield Township, Crawford Co., PA.

The 1870 census shows Alexander Storer Throop, age 42, as a butcher in Stoneboro.

Alexander was a member of the first six man Stoneboro Council elected in March 1867 after Stoneboro's incorporation Aug. 25, 1866, and served as its first Justice of the Peace. He served as Council member in 1867, 68, 69, 70, 74, and 78. He served as Burgess in 1871,75,86, and 87 until June 3, 1887 when he was paralyzed.
