John Thrower is believed to have been born at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, about 1561, a son of John Thrower and Ellen (Whytynge) Thrower; he married Margaret Unknown by 1587 (first child born in 1588). As his father is presumed to have been the John Thrower who was buried at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, in January of 1610/11, the son's death can only be noted as occurring after the birth of the next-generation John Thrower in 1592.
This lineage is supported by the naming of John and Margaret's daughter, Ellen, echoing the name of John's mother, Ellen (Whytynge) Thrower.
