Nancy Lurie states, "[Abel's] wife rejoiced under the wonderful name of Sunshine Thundercloud. Sunshine was a nickname but the only one she was ever called”. (Weinhold, 25 nt. 9) However, the Indian censuses don't show anyone named "Nina Thundercloud." Yet the 1910 census shows a two year old Nina Thunder whose 14 year old sister went by the name "May Thundercloud" on account of her mother's previous marriage. Nina may have adopted this name herself later on. The name "Thunder" is a Thunderbird Clan name.
