Organized and incorporated in 1895; federated in 1896.

Object-To promote literary and scientific pursuits.

The Club furnished Room Seven on the fourth floor at the La Crosse Hospital. This Club was instrumental in having a reading room opened on Caledonia Street, which later became a branch library. The Club assisted in the tuberculosis campaigns and also gave money to assist in the campaign for a tuberculosis sanitarium. It paid a young man's railroad fare to the Wales Sanitarium. It assisted a young girl through High School by paying her street car fare and for her lunches. The Club has donated money to the Good Samaritans at Christmas and other times to help them carry on their work.

MRS. MARY STEWART

Word has been received today from Mishawaka, Ind., of the death of Mrs. Mary Stewart, 93, a former resident of La Crosse. She was the former Mrs. Alonzo Chubb.

Committal services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Mausoleum. The Rev. Folke Faire will officiate.
