Elizabeth (Elisabeth) was born to Benjamin Tibbetts and Elizabeth Johnson in about 1697. The first of six children, it is believed that she was born in Kingston, Rhode Island, as were her sisters, Mary and Esther. Her sisters, Mercy, Hannah and Martha were born after the family had relocated to Canterbury, Windham, Connecticut. Her father died before her marriage to Tryall Baker.
