PALMERSTON DIVORCE COURT At Palmerston Supreme Court in the undefended case Elizabeth Jane Tidd v. Thomas Henry Tidd, the petitioner sued for a dissolution of marriage on the ground of adultery. The petitioner in her evidence stated that she had been married to the respondent at Feilding on August 2nd, 1899. and there had been eight children born of the union. Everything went well until about eight years ago, when the parties were living at Mangaweka. She had then reason to suspect undue intimacy between the respondent and a woman who was living in the house, but he denied the accusation. She (petitioner) had left the house to earn her own living as a waitress, and after that her husband had taken to drinking heavily. She had reason to believe that he was living with another woman while she was earning her own living, and she put in a letter from him making certain admissions. Corroborative evidence having been given by two witnesses, His Honor granted a decree nisi, to be made absolute in three months, with costs on the lowest scale against the respondent [5]
