Biography

James Eugene Tillman was born July 21, 1880 in Wadesboro, North Carolina, the sixth son of David Chiles Tillman and Martha Elizaeth Arnold.[1] He grew up in White Store, Anson County.[2] He married Sarah Vieve Robinson August 5, 1902 and settled in Wadesboro. [1]. He is listed as a farmer in the 1910 census. [3]

They had seven children., four of whom died young. According to the 1920 census, he was a salesman in dry goods.[4] He served in World War I. [5] In the 1930 census his occupation is listed as foreman, general farm. [6]

James Eugene Tillman died April 6, 1939 in Wadesboro. [7] and is buried in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. [8]
