Father: Robert Fingland Tilney b. 23 Feb 1881
Mother: Rhoda Miles Sargent b. 5 Feb 1883, d. 26 Dec 1965
BIO:
Bradford Sargent Tilney was born on 22 Aug 1908, in Lynton, Devonshire, England.
He graduated from The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut, s 1926 and also graduated from Yale School of Architecture in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1933.
He married Josephine Toy Collins in 1940. Bradford and Toy lived in Cheshire, Connecticut.
Bradford Sargent Tilney was in the army in 1943 in the Engineer Corps during WWII.
He was an architect - he had his own firm with offices in the US and Italy. Bradford and Josephine lived in Stonington, Connecticut. They had a lovely second home on the green in old Stonington, and later built a modern home in North Stonington.
He and his partner William Pederson won the competition for the design of the FDR Memorial in Washington DC in 1962.
Bradford Sargent Tilney married Rosemarie Manger(B:1926-).
Bradford Sargent Tilney died on 23 Apr 1999 in Groton, Connecticut, at age 90 long illness. An obituary was published in the Hartford Courant, on 17 Jun 1999.
Mr. Tilney is survived by his former spouses, Josephine Toy Collins of Groton and Rosemarie Manger-Tilney of Orange, CT; his son, Timothy Collins Tilney and his wife, Susan Wood Tilney of Newark, DE; his brother, Ralph Brackett Tilney of Creve Couer, St.Louis, MO. There will be a Memorial Service at the First Congregational Church on the Green (on Rt. 10) in Cheshire, CT, Saturday (June 19), 10 a.m.

Stuart Tilney Mr
Bradford Tilney is the decendant of the Tilney's of Norfolk, England. 124 years before his birth Joseph Tilney snr was born in Norwich, Norfolk, England. Josephs line were religious, earlier late 1600's Quakers of East Tuddenham, and not at all poor people being land owning Yeomen. Joseph jnr b 1821,Manchester, England married Jeanette Fingland in Paris, Ontario 1845. Both families having emigrated to Canada earlier. The family name "Fingland" appears in most generations following that. a FB page simply called Tilney has the family write up, available to everyone.
