There is a very long and interesting Paternal line of Nathan Tilton. for several centuries the family Tree indicates the Tilton family originally resided near Narborough, Leicestershire, England

Tiltons were among the very early phases of Puritan Immigration.

The first 4 great grandfathers in this New World, William Tilton, John, John II, John III were involved in some very historic communities particularly upon moving to Long Island, and then later moving to new communities in New Jersey.

Great Grandmother Mary Pearsall was one of the very first arrivals. She was orphaned in infancy but lived to see her great great grandchidren. Pearsall/Purcell family was out of Wales.


William and his wife had 6 children:

Katharine Tilton born 10 January 1737
Phebe Tilton born 2 October 1739
William Tilton born 14 August 1741. He died on 3 February 1797.
