Biography

Joseph Meek Timmons was born on 05 September 1868[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] in Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio, United States[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. He was the son of Benjamin Timmons[1][2][4][5][9] and Mary Ann Meek[1][2][3][4][5][9].

Joseph and a yet to be identified first wife divorced prior to the 1900 census. They likely married quite young (possibly 1887 when he was only 18-19 years old) as he appears to have had a son born in 1888.

Joseph had a son George W Timmons[3] born on 09 April 1888 in Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio, United States shown as living in the household of Joseph's widowed mother Mary Ann (Meek) Timmons along with Benjamin and Mary's other divorced son John T Timmons.

Joseph married Lillian "Lilly" Belle (Poulson) Cordray[4][5][6][7][9][10] on 28 May 1909[6][4][5] in Harrison County, Ohio, United States[4][5][9].

It does not appear Joseph and Lillian had any children.

Joseph's wife Lillian Belle Poulson passed away as the result of a "Gun shot wound - by her own hand"[10] on 30 July 1921[10] in Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio, United States[10].

Joseph Meek Timmons passed away at his residence[9] as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot[9] on 10 May 1937[9] in Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio, United States[9][11]. "Charlie Timmons - Cadiz, Ohio" was the informant on his death certificate. This is likely his brother.

Mr. Timmos died instantly from a shot gun wound just below the heart on Monday morning, May 10, 1937, and coroner John Copeland gave the verdict, that the wound was self-inflicted. One neighbor, Mrs. J B Worley, saw him bring the 16 gauge gun out and stand it beside the house. Another neighbor, Mrs. Butler, living in the residence where Clark Gable was born, was attracted by an unusaual noise in the Timmons back yard, then hear the shot. She saw Mr. Timmons fall from the box he was sitting on to the ground. Authorities found a stick with a nail in the end of it, on the ground. It had evidently been used to set off the trigger. Joseph Meek Timmons was born on September 5, 1868, the son of Benjamin and Mary Ann (Meek) Timmons, in the house which he lived all of his life. He was one of a well known family, of which the one brother now survives. His wife, Lilly Belle Poulson, died several years ago. For the past few years, his niece, Mrs. Marie Chisnell, has kep house for him, but was up town at the time of his death. Mr. Timmons was best known as a cement worker, laying many of the walks in Cadiz. He also was a truck gardener. The body was taken to Clark's funeral home. Services will be in charge of Rev. W. C. Patterson, with burial at Cadiz, Pall bearers will be Sebastian Graff, Carl Quinn, Robert Nolan, Dell Battin, D. Migliore, and Bert Walker."
