Biography

Leonard Timmons was born about 1807 in Ross County, Ohio. He first married Phebe Crabb and then married Sarah Hoskins. In 1850, Leonard and Sarah are living next door to her parents, Josiah and Ann Hoskins, in Marshall County, IL with ten children: James, Phebe, Stephen, Mary, Elizabeth, John, Josiah, Sarah, Susan and Leonard. It is commonly thought that Leonard died before 1860 as he is not found in the 1860 Census. It is believed that Leonard and his wife were likely buried in Sparland Cemetery in Sparland, IL where there are a large number of broken headstones including Hoskins and Timmons that are in disrepair or have been stacked together on the cemetery grounds.

https://museum.bmi.net/STEPS%20PEOPLE/timmons.htm cites his father as Leonard Sr. and grandfather as Abraham Timmons; the exact parentage is unclear.
