Biography

Matthew (Mattheus) was baptised on 12 May 1657 at Bere Ferrers, son of Johanis (John) Tindall and Anne. [1] [2]

He matriculated at the age of 15 to Lincoln College, Oxford on 21 Mar 1672/3 and was awarded a BA, BCL and DCL. [2]

He died at Grays Inn on 16 Aug 1733. [2] and left a will probated at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. His nephew Nicholas Tindall was residuary legatee and executor. [3]

Source cited below states: Mathew Tyndale was Rector of Boralston, Devon, who married Anne Halse and had John of Cornwood who married Elizabeth Prideaux and had Nicholas whose son George .... Matthew was son of Sir John Tyndale and Anne Egerton. Matthew's sister Margaret Tyndale of Great Maplested, Essex, England, was 3rd wife of John Winthrop (Governor of Massachusetts) at April 1618.

Matthew Tindal (1657 – 16 August 1733) was an eminent English deist author. His works, highly influential at the dawn of the Enlightenment, caused great controversy and challenged the Christian consensus of his time (Wikipedia article).
