Philippa de Tindale was a descendant of the family of Tindale, feudal Barons of Langley, a lesser barony of Northumberland.[1][2][3] Her paternal grandfather was Adam de Tindale[1][2] who married Helewise.[2] Her father was also called Adam de Tindale.[1][2] Her birth date is not known.
Philippa married Nicholas de Bolteby.[1][2] They had at least two children:
Following her father Adam's death in 1233, Philippa was joint heir of his estates, inheriting half the barony of Langley. Her sister Isabel was represented by her under-age son Walter, suggesting that Isabel had predeceased Adam. On Walter's death in 1237, Philippa inherited the other half of the Langley barony.[1] Her husband thus acquired a life interest in the barony.[2]
She may have died before 1257.[4]
The Tindale-Tyndale Trail website says that Philippa died before 1257, but does not give any source.[4]
