Alfred and his brothers were well known in Lithgow as the "Tennis Tindalls", Alfred playing into his 60's. He worked for 20 years in the Excelsior Lime Stone Quarry before coming to Lithgow in 1919 where he worked at the Hoskins Steel Works until the Works closed down and relocated to Port Kembla to become BHP. He later worked at the Lithgow Gasworks. He was regarded as a n experienced horseman and expert rifle shot. He was buried at Lithgow (Presbyterian 2 - 1)
