Daisy Valentine Tinney was born on 14 February 1890 in Patea, Taranaki, her father, Capt. William Tinney, was 33, and her mother, Emma, was 31. She married Edwin Henry (Ed) Davidson in 1910 in New Zealand. They had four children during their marriage. She died on 31 December 1929 in her hometown at the age of 39, and was buried there.
