Biography

Richard Tinny was baptised on 8 March 1777 in St Columb Minor Cornwall, the son of Richard & Grace Tinny.[1]

Richard married Ann Jacka on 22 December 1804 in Colan by licence.[2]

OCCUPATION: Farmer.

CENSUS INFORMATION:

In the 1841 UK Census, he is listed as Richard Tinny, a farmer aged 60 (rounded) and born in county. He is living at Tregenna, St Columb Minor, with his son (John), daughter-in-law (Louisa), another son (David) and a 4-month old granddaughter.[3]

In the 1851 UK Census, he is listed as Richard Tinney, an Annuitant aged 74 and born in St Columb Minor. He is living with his son (John), daughter in law (Louisa), 4 daughters and a son, another son (David) and 2 servants. (HO107/1905, Folio 445, Page 34).

DEATH: He died on 2 Jun 1860 in St Columb Minor, Cornwall. Age at death was recorded as 83. Cornwall FHS transcription of headstone confirms dates and ages for both he and his wife. The death is recorded in the GRO indexes for the St Columb Registration District in the June quarter of 1860 under reference 5c 83. He is listed as Richard Tinney.

BURIAL: Burial is recorded in St Columb Minor burial register, under Entry 1217; age recorded as 83.

Tinney-283 and Tinny-1 appear to represent the same person because: When trying to marry off Anne Jacka as part of the Jacka One Name study I came across two Richard Tinny/Tinney's who I believe are the same. It was probably not picked up before now due to the variation in the surname. I believe the other Jacka's in the 1841 Census in the same household are also related to Anne
