Harriet Tinney was born in Walton, Somerset in 1816, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Tinney. She married Sylvester Pursey Badman in Glastonbury England in 1844.
Harriet and Sylvester emigrated to Australia on the "Navarino" arriving in Port Adelaide on 25th September,1851. They had 3 children but only one (Mary Ellen)survived and moved to Australia with them. Harriett died in Adelaide in 1859.
Harriett Badman (nee Tinney) South Australian Notice Thursday 5th Jan 1860 DIED. On the 26th December, at her residence, Sturt-street, Harriet, the affectionate wife of Sylvester Pursey Badman, late Sergeant of the Detective Police Force, and now of the Red Lion Hotel, Rundle-street, in the forty- eighth year of her age.
