Biography

Elizabeth^[1][2][3][4] was born in 1727 in St. Peters Parish, New Kent County, Virginia,^[5] the fifth of sixteen known children and the oldest of six daughters of Edward and Margaret Taylor Tinsley.

In 1748, when she was about twenty-one, she married William Pendleton married in Orange County, Virginia,^[6] and they had thirteen children, eight sons and five daughters:
