Biography

Elizabeth de Tibetot, third daughter and co-heiress of Robert de Tibetot, Knt., 3rd Lord Tibetot, and Margaret Deincourt, was born about 1370 (age 2 in 1372)[1] in Nottinghamshire.[2]

Elizabeth married before 23 November 1385 to Philip le Despenser, Knt.,[1] 2nd Lord Despencer, son and heir of Philip le Despenser, Knt., Lord Despenser, and Elizabeth ______.[2] They had one daughter.

  • Margery[1] (or Margaret), born about 1398-1400, married first in 1404 to John Roos, Knt., 7th Lord Roos (he died 1421 and they had no issue). She married second, before March 1423, to Roger Wentworth, Esq. and they had six children. Margery died on 20 April 1478.[2]

Elizabeth Tibetot predeceased her husband, who died 20 June 1424. She was buried at Grey Friars, Ipswich, Suffolk.[1][2]

Research Notes

Sir Philip le Despenser was called the de jure 2nd Baron by modern writers, though never summoned to a Parliament.
