I have read that he possibly died in prison in West Virginia and died of TB but I don't know if anyone has ever found out for sure when or where he died.
John Canada Tipton was my Great grandpa and he shot the sheriff but he did not shoot the deputy. Just a little humor on my part. A lot of people would probably prefer to leave this fact a secret but it is what it is. And as far as I'm concerned we don't know all the truth about what happened. This link leads to the article on my facebook account. What happened is most likely why he disappeared and no one knows for sure where he went or where he died. One thing I read is that he became a preacher somewhere in West Virginia? If so I'm guessing he probably took on an alias name hoping to never be found and tried for being a horse thief and murderer.
