John was born 1 Jan 1755 to John Tipton (1730 - 1813) and Mary Butler Tipton (1732 - 1776). He was the second* of nine siblings:

HE HAD THREE WIVES.THE MOTHER OF LAVINIA WAS CUSIC OR CUSIK. SHE WAS HIS THIRD WIFE. These are two of his known children:

George Washington Tipton (1807 - 1886)*
John passed away either 1 Feb 1807 or 29 Dec 1807. He is buried at Ellejoy Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellejoy, Blount County, Tennessee.
