Biography

Matthew Tisdale, the son of Ephraim Jr. and Ruth Strange Tisdale, was born in New Brunswick on June 7, 1787. He was a twin to sister Joanna; Their parents, the twins and brother Samuel came to Long Point, Ontario in 1808.[1]

Matthew married Abigail Hunt Axford and they had eight children:[1]

  1. Cyrus b Oct 2, 1831
  2. William Wallace b Aug 26, 1836
  3. Sarah; m John Cameron
  4. Martha; m ___ Newton
  5. Mary Ann b 1824; m W. H. Tucker of England
  6. Amelia
  7. Sally; m ___ Crooks

Matthew died in St. Thomas, Ontario on March 17, 1875. He is buried in the Old English Church Cemetery.[1]
