RALPH G. TITUS STOWE Ralph G. Titus, 102, Stowe's oldest resident, passed away at the home of his daughter, Aletha Koloniar, Sept. 11,1 987. He was born in Chateaugay, N.Y., on Feb. 15, 1885, the son of Harley and Amy (Johnson) Titus. Mr. Titus moved his family from Chateaugay to Stowe in 1929. He farmed in Stowe Hollow for many years, and during the 1940s had a woodworking shop on Depot Street in Stowe. Mr. Titus married Flossie Gibbs in Springfield, Dec. 2, 1907; she predeceased him in 1942. They had 10 children; one son and one daughter died in infancy, and his oldest son, Floyd of Charlotte, predeceased him in 1983. Left to mourn his loss are four sons, Clifton of Essex Junction, Ell of Watertown, N.Y., Donald of Lancaster, S.C., and Stanley of Plaistow, N.H.; three daughters, Aletha Koloniar of Stowe, Alma Percy and Joyce Kraatz, both of South Burlington; 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He also was predeceased by a granddaughter, Linda LaMonda, and by two great-grandchildren, who died in infancy. In 1943 Mr. Titus married Elma Crawford, who died in 1 959. Mr. Titus was the last charter member of the Standard Church, which was started in 1918 in Watertown, N.Y. Friends may call at the Stafford Funeral Home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Standard Church in Waterbury Center Tuesday at 1 1 a.m. with the Rev. Vernon Scott officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverbank Cemetery in Stowe. R.W. Stafford is in charge of arrangements. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lamoille County Home Health Agency, Morrisville, Vt. 05661. [13]
