Biography

Mary was the daughter of John Todd and Jane Hawkins born circa 1782.

She married Peter Trammell on 21 Dec 1807.^[1][2]

Research Notes

A FindAGrave memorial^[3] alleges that Polly died on 4 Jul 1842 but has neither a source nor a headstone.

Mary and her husband are found in the 1840 federal census of Adair County, Kentucky.^[4] They are both recorded as being between the ages of 50 and 60 giving a birth between 1780 to 1790 or 1785 +/- 5 years. Polly's alleged father, however, died on 18 Aug 1782, which would place her birth before May 1783. A date of 1782 woud have Polly age 25 at marriage and conform to the alleged father's death.

It appears that Polly's father was John Todd. Tax records of Knox County, Kentucky, show John Todd there 1803-1807. In 1805, a year before her marriage we find John Todd with 300 acres on Jellico Creek and Peter Trammell's father Dennis on Jellico Creek with 150 acres. [If the John Todd in those records was the father of Polly, then John Todd (d. 1782) was not her father.]
