INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT LOW TODD- Posted on Ancestry.com 21 Nov 2013 by trigney09

Low Todd was born in New Jersey (or possibly Pennsylvania) and was baptized at the Abington Prebyterian Church, in Philadelphia Co. He was raised in Somerset and Hunterdon Co, NJ and came with his father to Augusta Co, VA by 1750. He purchased land on Whistle Creek in 1750. By 1760, he had moved to Bedford Co. In 1767, he obtained a grant for 400 acres on Dogg Creek in Halifax County. In 1787, he re-survyed the 400 acres and indicated it was then in Campbell Co.

In 1787, he appointed an attorney to seel his land on Dog Creek. By early 1788, he had moved to Tennessee and sold the remaining 100 acres on Dog Creek.

In Nov 1792, he left a will in Jefferson Co TN, naming his wife Elizabeth and his children: Low Todd, Samuel Todd, Mary Todd , Agnes Davis, James Todd, John Todd, Jenny Harrison and Elizabeth Blackstone. He also left 20 pounds to Young Low Blackstone. To Samuel and Low Jr, he bequeathed his land. He gave one shilling James Todd, John Todd, Jenny Harrison and Elizabeth Blackstone. It is possible that these latter children were children of a previous marriage since Samuel Todd is reported elsewhere to have been born in 1779 and married in 1802, whereas Jane/Jenny Todd married a James Harrison and had at least one child born about 1784, suggesting a birth in the 1750s or 1760s. Also, if Young Low Blackstone was of age in 1792, then he was born by 1771 and his mother Elizbeth would have been born by 1750s.
