Richard Andrew Palethorpe Todd OBE was "an Irish born English actor. He received a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Male, as well as an Academy Award for Best Actor nomination and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor nomination for his role in the film The Hasty Heart (1949)."[1]

He was born 11 June 1919 in Dublin, Ireland, the son of Andrew William Palethorpe-Todd and Marvilla Rose Agar Daly.[3]
He married Catherine Stewart Crawford Grant-Bogle 13 August 1949 at Chelsea, London.[4] His second wife, whom he married April 1970, was Virginia A. Miler.[5]
Richard died 3 December 2009 at Grantham, Lincolnshire, at the age of 90.[6]

ACTOR TODD DIES AT 90
LONDON (AP) - Irish actor Richard Todd has died of cancer at age 90. His family said Todd died Thursday in England. Todd drew on his wartime exploits as a British army paratrooper in the 1962 film "The Longest Day."
