Biography

Nicholas was born about 1663. He was the son of Nicholas Toler, of Ballintotty, Co. Tipperary.

He lived at Beechwood, County Tipperary, Ireland.

He was admitted to Oriel College, Oxford, on 13 May 1681, aged 18. [1]

Nicholas was married twice.[2]

Children by first marriage - Eleanor [Unknown]

  1. John, of Tiermoyle (will proved 1768), married Margaret Crawford
  2. Nicholas, of Garrykennedy, married (1) Martha Blincoe, daughter of Andrew Blincoe, in 1731, (2) Anne Bridgman, daughter of St. John Bridgman, Raheens, Co. Clare, in 1749.
  3. Daniel, of Graige, married (1) Helena Maria Purdon, daughter of Simon Purdon, of Tinerana, Co. Clare, and Helena Synge, in 1721, (2) Lettice Otway, daughter of Thos. Otway, of Lissenhall, Co. Tipperary, in 1732.
  4. Charles, will proved in 1741, died unmarried.
  5. William, described in his brother Charles' will as being beyond seas.
  6. Thomas, Lieut, in the Honourable Col. Morrison's Dragoons, married Miss Elizabeth (Blount), but died, without issue and intestate, in 1742. His widow died intestate in 1743.
  7. Catherine, described in deed dated 1757 as " Cath. Toler the elder," died unmarried.
  8. Rebecca, married James Willington, of Ballintotty, in 1742.
  9. Mary married Peter Judge, of Ballyshiel, King's County.

Children by second marriage - [Unknown]

  1. Diana
  2. Eleanor married James Kingsley, of Ballyhogan,Co. Tipperary, in 1743.
  3. Gilbert was a Cornet in Royal Irish Regiment of Dragoons, but in Trinity College Dublin register recording his son's matriculation, he is described as " Merchant, Cork." He married Anne Gason, daughter of Richard Gason, of Killoshalloe, Co. Tipperary, in 1760.
