Dear Niki,

since I didn’t see any reaction from your side about the check-in message from May, I assume you don’t want to remain a project member. If I don’t hear from you within the next 14 days, I will then remove your Germany Project badge. If you do not wish for that to happen, please reply to the check-in message below or send me a direct message.

If this message finds you too late, feel free to re-request the badge by replying to our G2G join post.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Dear Wikitreer:

my name is Cristina Corbellani and I’m Team Leader for the Italian Diaspora section of the Italy project on Wikitree. You are receiving this email because you expressed an interest in the Italian Diaspora. The aim of this part of the project is to identify the migrant Italians to connect their families of origin in Italy with their descendants abroad. We have specific resources for this purpose which are explicited here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Italian_Roots_Diaspora. If you are new to Italian genealogy or are not familiar on how to trace a migrant ancestor, I’d like to invite you to join us the next September 30th to October 2nd. On those dates we will doing the Source-a-Thon as Team Italy, a friendly competition in which we locate sources for as many unsourced profiles as we can over an extended weekend. But the important thing is that, whether you join the competition officially or not, or if you are joining another team (which you can do here if you like: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1463120/register-now-for-the-2022-source-a-thon ), if you drop by on the #Italy channel on Discord you’ll find almost always during those days someone ready to help you with your research, translations or resources websites. Or you can just drop by to say hello! We always have great fun during these events. Hoping to hear back from you soon, best regards, Cristina.

Hi!

This is Chris from the Italy Project. As part of the annual project check-in, can you fill in the project survey? This will let us know that you are still interested in the project and which teams you'd like to participate in.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi,

It’s Germany Project check-in time again! Please respond within the next 2 weeks and let me know if you’re still interested in participating with the Project. Remember, the only requirements for membership in the Germany Project are (1) that you work on at least one German profile every 6 months and (2) that you respond to this check-in.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. In your response, we welcome any feedback you may want to give on the project (what you like about it, what you’d like to see us do, what we could change, etc.)

If you ever have any questions, please ask. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hello again! I posted a comment two weeks ago and have not yet heard back from you. I hope you are well! Do you want to remain in the Germany Project? If I don’t hear back from you by the end of November, I’ll go ahead and remove you from our member roster. You are, of course, always welcome to rejoin at any time via our G2G sign-up post.

Best wishes, Traci ~ Germany Project co-leader

Hi Traci, thanks and yes I would like to remain part of the Germany Project. Apologies for the late reply, we have electricity load-shedding in SA, which means no power for a couple of hours every day,

Hi,

The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.

Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi Niki!

Some time ago, you have expressed your interest in Project Belgium. The project has recently been promoted from a free-space project to a more official project (actually a sub-project of Europe)! You can find the (revamped) project page here.

That means among other things that you can now receive a project badge (of the Europe Project) indicating your involvement, that we can more easily create stickers, that we will be able to discuss and "officially" establish guidelines and standards relating to Belgian profiles, and that we will have a project account for important Belgian profiles.

If you're still interested, could you (re)confirm your interest to become a member of Project Belgium by answering this g2g post? I will then make sure you receive the (Europe) badge!

Best regards,

Filip

A warm welcome to the South African Project Niki

Looking forward to collaborate with you on our huge South African tree.

Philip, doen jou huiswerk oor wie die duplikaat gemaak het.

Myne is Wassermann-17 en die duplikaat is Wasserman-366. Do the math. Gelukkig is die res van die mense op Wikitree fantasties en almal help mekaar.

Hi Tolken, I see you've been a member of WikiTree since 2017. Please be aware that many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eigtheenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources. You have created duplicates that now have to be merged: of Meyer-3704 and his spouse Wasserman-366. I do not know how many more you have created but being on WikiTree (with already an impressive 1000+ contributions) means that you have a responsiblity to follow the Honor Code. Here are a few tips:
  1. Adding to WikiTree.
  2. What are duplicates? Why should and how can they be avoided?

Thanks, Philip van der Walt

Hello!

At Wikitree we use our own names on our profiles and the last name at birth field should always be the name on your birth certificate. As an Honor Code signatory, it is important to adhere to the WikiTree policy. If you'd like to "anonymize" your name, you can use Anonymous or an initial for either your first or last name, but preferably not both, please. If your "alias" is truly a nickname, you can put that in the Preferred Name field.

For more information on how to use each of the naming fields see this page: Name Fields.

For more information on our Privacy Levels, click the Privacy tab on your profile or take a look at our Privacy help page.

Thank you

Hi, Tolken,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.

I see that you want to join the South African Roots Project. From the project page click the link to the G2G thread and beneath the very first post, you will see small links to flag, answer, or comment. Click the link to answer. Request to join in the box that opens and then click Add Answer. Someone will reply to let you know you have been added and received your badge.

Have other questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Hi Tolken,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention those profiles need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up gedcom biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!
