Revolutionary War Service

William and his father, George, both served in the Revolutionary War. George provided patriotic service by providing furnished supplies in Stafford County, Virginia. William also provided patriotic serviced by rendering aid and helping build road construction for the army. William also served a stint as a private under Capt. George Mountjoy and Col. James Garrard.

From FAG: Boon's Lick Times, Fayette, Mo., 8-17-1844: OBITUARY. Another Revolutionary Soldier gone. Departed this life, in this county, on the 10th inst., after a short illness, WILLIAM TOLSON, in the 89th year of his age. He bore his affliction with the same fortitude he did the fatigue and privations of the Revolution, and sunk in the arms of death without a struggle or a groan. “Blessed be the name of the Lord, for his mercies endureth forever.” May also have served in War of 1812[1].
