Anders Tolsson was born in Ärtemark parish, Älvsborgs län, Sweden in 1732.[1]
He married Catharina Börjesdotter (b. 1742 in Nössemark) on November 10, 1762 in Nössemark parish. They had 10 children. Tragedy struck in January 1786 when four of their children died of dysentery: johan on Jan 9, Kerstin on the 15th and Peter and Catharina on the 17th. They were all buried on February 5, 1786.
Anders passed away, 79 years old on December 9, 1814 in Ängeboda. Cause: Håll och stygn. [2] He was survived by three of his children: two sons and a daughter.
Anders was appointed guardian to his niece Kierstin Halvardsdotter when his sister Anna Tolsdotter passed away in 1789.[3]
The family was quite wealthy as seen in both Anders' and Anna's estate inventories. Anders' share 1/12 in Ängeboda was valued at 500 riksdaler at his death.[4]
We can also see that he owned an old bible and a hymn book. The livestock were a (yellow 20-year old) horse, 7 cows, a calf, 7 goats and 21 sheep.
Anders had (at least) two siblings: Segol Tohlsson and Anna Tohlsdotter. According to household examination books they were born in Ärtemark parish, but they are not listed in the birth records for Steneby where Ärtemark's births were recorded.
