• Various unsourced birth dates appeared in previous profiles: Jan 1816, Russell, KY; 2 Nov 1836, Missouri. Profile currently uses the only currently available original record, 1850 Census: about 1827 in KY.
• FindAGrave notes there is a difference in the death certificate (Sept 19, 1857) and the gravestone transcription (April 28, 1857)
• Death record for parents only lists a mother: Mary Tompkins. An Ancestry tree gives her father's name as Henry, without source.
