Biography

Mary Ellen Tomlinson was born 23 April 1878 in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Joseph Tomlinson and Ellen Tomlinson.

Mary Ellen married Frank Apperley 4 March 1896 at Daly, Manitoba[1][2] They moved to a homestead near Mortlach, Saskatchewan where six children were born.

  2. Frederick Hatton born 1907
  3. Harry Alva born 1910
  4. Sarah Gladys born 1913
  5. Esther Mary born 1915
  6. Francis Clegg born 1917

Eugene enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1916 and served until 1918, when he failed to return to Mortlach.[3]

Mary Ellen and the children moved to Arran, Saskatchewan, where her parents were living. A son, Stephen Edward Tomlinson Apperely was born at Arran in 1920.

Mary Ellen later moved to Swan River, Manitoba.

Mary Ellen Apperley died 17 Jun 1940 in Brandon, Manitoba[4][5] and is buried at Swan River, Manitoba.[6]
