Biography

John “Jackie” Tomlinson, son of Humphrey Beckett Tomlinson and Tabitha (Wheat) Tomlinson, was born on 12 Sep 1768 at Frederick County, Maryland. He married Tabitha Summers, daughter of William Summers and Mary (Wheat) Summers on 30 July 1787 at Rowan, North Carolina.

John died on 27 Jan. 1848 in Iredell Co, North Carolina and was buried at Mount Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Harmony, Iredell County, North Carolina. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.

John's will -- unlike the ancestry.com transcription -- lists more of his children: sons Basil, Franklin, John, Perry, Humphrey and Eleven S., and daughters Tabitha Lovelace, Amelia Gaither, Dorcas Turner, Susannah Summers, Elizabeth Gaither and Mary Gaither.
