Arthur Chisholm Tomlinson was born on 4 November 1908 ^[1] in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England, the son of William James Tomlinson and Ellen Cartlidge. ^{[2] [3]}

In 1911 he with his parents and 5 siblings at in May Bank, Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire. ^[2]

He married Annie Hermann in 1933. Their marriage was registered in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire. ^[4]

In 1939 he was living with his wife in Manchester. He was a compositor. ^[1]

He died aged 75. His death was registered in 1984 in Holsworthy, Devon. ^[5]
