William Arthur was born in 1881. He was the son of Mary and Frederick William Tomlinson [1] He married Lavinia (Vinnie) Squire in 1908 [2]
A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Michael's Church, Waimea West, on January 14th, when Mr William Arthur Tomlinson, third son of Mr Frederick Tomlinson, engineer, of Waimea West, was married to Miss Lavinia May (Vinnie) Squire, youngest daughter of Mr John S. Squire of "Tukurua", Collingwood. The bride, who was given away by her father, was daintily attired in a dress of cream silk crepe-de-chine carried a shower bouquet. The bride was attended by one bridesmaid, Miss Mabel Bell, who wore a dress of cream silk lustre, with hat to match, and also carried a bouquet. Mr Arthur Squire, brother of the bride, acted as best man. The gift of the bridegroom to the bride was a gold locket set with pearls and rubies. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a gold tie pin, set with rubies, and the bridegroom's to the bridesmaid was a gold brooch. The ceremony was performed by the Rev W. S. Lucas. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mrs A. W. Peters, sister of the bride, after which the bride and bridegroom left for their future home in Nelson. [3]
After she passed away later the same year, he married 2nd her cousin Margaret Squire in 1912 [4]
He passed away in 1942 age 61 [5] and in buried at Kelvin Grove cemetery in Palmerston North [6]
