Biography
Margaret Ellen Toms was born on Wednesday, February 11, 1891, in Casey County, Kentucky. Her parents were John Criton Carpenter Toms (Wednesday, April 2, 1856 - Sunday, February 13, 1938) and Mary Elizabeth French Toms (Tuesday, September 16, 1856 - Friday, December 7, 1945). Mary Ellen was the fourth child in a family of five. Her parents were married in 1879. They were a farm family.
On Thursday, March 31, 1910, Margaret and Theo Austin were married. They had one son, Isaiah L. Austin (Wednesday, March 28, 1917 - Tuesday, July 4, 1995). Margaret was a member of Bruce's Chapel Methodist Church.
Mary Ellen passed away at the age of ninety-nine at the Casey County War Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 11, 1990. She is buried in the Thomastown Cemetery in Dunnville, Casey County, Kentucky.
