Harrison Toney was the son of Jesse Toney & Amanda Jarrell. Jesse Toney was a tall big man who was buried in a special coffin. Jesse bought land and then sold part of it, gaining his money back. The Ancestors moved from Virginia to West Virginia. They built the Church, School, Store and other buildings in the community. They were farmers, worked in the mines, ran the store, and served for America. They were smart individuals who built their own generator, irrigation and plumbing. After Jesse died, his wife Amanda remarried a Roop man of the area. Harrison was just a teen at this time. Harrison married Julia Perkins and they had many children. Their daughter Ida married James Lyons, whom is related to President Eisenhower, whom they invited to the Toney & Stover Family Reunion. The Toney Family were known for their dark olive skin and beauty.

The Toney Family first received their name in Normandy, France, descendants of Ralph de Toeni. Earlier, their origins were in Norway when they served as Vikings under the Red & Uncle Rollo the chieftain. They were of Malahuel Mixed descendant.

In early 17th Century the Toney brothers arrived to America. (Edward, John, and William). Edward & William (Possible Twins) lived in Virginia. William was a servant in a Jamestown home and was given his freedom early as a wedding gift. He moved south and then returned to Virginia. Edward stayed in Virginia. Their brother John lived in Massachusetts.

During my earlier genealogy research, I went out on a quest to find my Ancestoral Homestead in Dothan Wva where my GGM was born. As a child, I listened to the wonderful historical stories passed down. My Grandmother often allowed me play with her porcelain Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. As I arrived to the Dothan area, I found Toney Fork Rd. I came to a home that displayed in the yard the Snow White & Seven Dwarfs. I knocked on the door and was welcomed by a wonderfully kind Toney gentleman. After we shared our family stories that matched, He generously drove me to our Toney grave sites. For privacy reasons, I will not mention his name. The Toney family is a wonderful & kind hearted family. I greatly appreciate the warm kindness I was given & left Proud to be Family.
