Sometime between 1900 and 1903 it appears the family moves to Washington State. This date is based upon a headstone believed to be that of Effie's mother with a death date of 1903 in Washington State. ^{[citation needed]}

In 1910, Florence (Effie's middle name) was living with her father in Pierce County, Washington.^[3]
